Festivals we invented ourselves, and conventions we simply made work.
The visible part of an event lasts one evening. The part that matters starts six months earlier, when you decide who pays, who comes and what gets said.
Selvatica has come back every spring for eleven editions: we conceived it with Palazzo Gromo Losa and produce it with Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella. With Memorandum we gave historical photography a format. These are projects we helped bring into being, not only ones we executed.
Fundraising is not a separate line on the quote. It is how a cultural project gets as far as opening, and it is designed alongside everything else.
